Bourbon
Smoked Maple Old Fashioned
A slower, richer Old Fashioned with maple depth, orange oil, and a hint of smoke.
Build
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1 barspoon dark maple syrup
- 2 dashes aromatic bitters
- 1 dash orange bitters
Stir thoroughly with cold ice until the dilution softens the whiskey and the maple integrates. Strain over a large cube in a chilled double rocks glass.
Finish
Express an orange peel over the drink, run it around the rim, and rest it on the cube. Add a brief smoke rinse under a cloche if you want more winter depth.
Best when the room is dim, the glass is heavy, and the pace is unhurried.
